Landmark Data Centre Development in Alberta

Calgary-Based Consulting Firm Plays Key Role Representing Alberta in Bitdeer Technologies Group’s $21.7 Million Site Acquisition and Development of 101 MW Data Centre

CALGARY, Alberta, Feb. 10, 2025 – TwelveSix Services, a Calgary-based consulting firm, is proud to announce its critical role in the acquisition and development of a significant energy and infrastructure project near Fox Creek, Alberta. The project will establish Canada’s largest Bitcoin mining data centre, reinforcing Alberta’s growing position as a leader in digital infrastructure and energy innovation.

TwelveSix Services has played a pivotal role in supporting the project, providing Bitdeer Technologies Group (NASDAQ: BTDR) with strategic guidance on Alberta’s energy landscape, asset identification, key industry connections, and project planning and development. The acquisition paves the way for the construction of a Bitcoin mining data centre that aims to be the world’s first fully vertically integrated Bitcoin miner at scale.

We are thrilled to have facilitated Bitdeer's entry into Canada with this project” said Blake Fikowski, CEO of TwelveSix Services. “Alberta’s unique energy landscape, supportive government and innovative regulatory environment are the perfect conditions for data centres and crypto miners. For Alberta, this is an opportunity to diversify our economy while leveraging our existing energy industry, and we should be excited.”

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith noted, “This investment is another sign that Alberta continues to be a leader in technology and innovation not only across the country, but across the world. If you want to do business and have a plan to bring your own power, then Alberta is the place for you.”

Once energized, the project will help stabilize power prices and strengthen the grid during high-demand periods in Alberta. The project’s first phase includes CDN$130 million capital investment in power generation and an additional CDN$45 million for the data centre.

TwelveSix Services is committed to supporting projects that expand Alberta’s data centre industry and create new opportunities for natural gas producers, driving economic growth and diversification in the region.

TwelveSix Services CEO, Blake Fikowski, is available for interviews to discuss this project and its implications for Alberta's energy landscape, and how the project will position the province as a global leader in sustainable, energy-efficient data centres.
